PHILADELPHIA, Oct. 31 -- The Philadelphia Gas Works (PGW) announced today that customers with access to the Internet can now find out on a weekly basis how well the nation's largest municipally-owned natural gas utility's Customer Service Initiative (CSI) is providing service to its customers.

``We want our customers to know how we're doing,'' says Randy Gyory, Vice President/Customer Affairs.

For several months PGW has been implementing new procedures in its Call Center and significant improvements have been made.

``The bottom line is that we are answering the phones much more rapidly and dealing with customer issues in a timely and efficient manner,'' adds Mr. Gyory. ``And now we'd like to share the results with our ratepayers.''

Every week at the PGW website (www.pgworks.com) new information will be posted on the number of calls received, the number of calls answered, and the average waiting time. These numbers will be displayed on graphs which will also show the goals that have been set by PGW and the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) so that visitors to the site can easily see what's being done to make dealing with PGW a fast and more pleasant experience.
