Envox Worldwide Delivers on Commitment to SALT at VSLive!

Launches Prepackaged SALT-based Applications and Related Professional Services for Enterprise Customers and Service Providers

VSLIVE!, SAN FRANCISCO, March 23-- Envox Worldwide, a leading global provider of voice-enhanced communications solutions, today announced that the company is delivering on its commitment to the Speech Application Language Tags (SALT) standard by launching prepackaged SALT-based applications for Microsoft Speech Server 2004 coupled with related professional services. These new initiatives expand Envox's prior commitment to support SALT with the Envox Communications Development Platform, which already supports VoiceXML and a host of other standards. Envox's extensive telephony expertise is now available for enterprise customers and service providers looking to utilize the SALT standard. This step is expected to accelerate the adoption of SALT-based telephony and multimodal, speech-enabled applications such as interactive voice response (IVR), enhanced self-service, alerts & notifications, and voice portals.

The first Envox SALT-based application, the Envox Prescription Refill application, is now available and will be demonstrated at VSLive! in the Microsoft Speech Partner Pavilion. The application, which can be configured to accept Dual-Tone Multi-Frequency (DTMF) or speech input, provides pharmacies with a well-tested call flow and speech user interface that can be implemented with minimal customization. Included is the Envox Order Status capability that can be used in any number of self-service initiatives to improve customer service.

To support deployment of the Envox Prescription Refill application and future SALT-based offerings, Envox Worldwide has also begun offering SALT- based professional services. These services include application development, call flow design, systems integration, speech user interface design, and system integration services.

"High-quality, low-cost prepackaged applications are critical for the broad development, deployment and acceptance of speech solutions," said James Mastan, director of marketing for the Speech Technologies team at Microsoft Corp. "Microsoft is pleased to have Envox Worldwide support the launch of the Microsoft Speech Server 2004 with its prescription refill application and supporting professional services capabilities. We recognize the important role their products, services and expertise will have on making speech technology mainstream."

"SALT promises to simplify application development and deployment for all," stated Mark D. Flanagan, president and COO of Envox Worldwide. "Our support for SALT reflects an ongoing commitment to providing open, standards- based software solutions and services that capitalize on today's leading communications technologies, such as VoiceXML, speech recognition, SS7, VoIP, Web services and host media processing."

Envox Worldwide is also accelerating plans to enhance the Envox Communications Development Platform with SALT-based authoring capabilities and a SALT-based browser. These added capabilities will allow Web developers to leverage their existing knowledge and skills to incorporate both speech and communications functionality into Web-based solutions. In addition, the latest version of the Envox platform will be integrated with the Microsoft Speech Server to assist organizations that are using multiple standards, including both SALT and VoiceXML, to create voice-enhanced communications solutions.
